Cut the potatoes
- Slice into fries sticks for even cooking.
- Soak the fries in cold water for 30–60 minutes to remove excess starch (optional ).
- Drain and dry thoroughly. Dry potatoes crisp much better. I am lazy sometimes so I don’t always do this step. Sometimes I just drain and that’s it.
Season
- Place the fries in a bowl.
- Lightly spray with cooking oil, tossing until all fries have a thin coating.
- Sprinkle with salt and toss again.
Air fry
- Start the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) .
- Arrange fries in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if needed.
- Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket around 10 minutes.
- For extra crispiness, increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the final 3–5 minutes.
- Taste and add a little more salt if desired.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
