Udon Noodles

Of course I have a new obsession, and this is Udon Noodles….

Udon noodles are thick, chewy noodles made from wheat flour, commonly used in Japanese cuisine. They can be served in a variety of ways, including in soups, stir-fries, or cold with dipping sauces. Udon is often paired with ingredients like tempura, green onions, and tofu, making it a versatile dish that can be enjoyed in different flavours and styles.

I have seen other people making them, and I just had to try to make them at home. So here is what I did and how I did it.

Ingredients

  • 2 packs of fresh udon noodles

  • 30 ml hot boiling oil

  • 1 cup of cilantro chopped

  • 3 green onions chopped

  • 1/4 soy sauce

  • 4-5 (or more) garlic gloves

  • 1 fried egg – optional

  • chilli garlic oil – optional

Let’s start cooking!

Boil a pot of water and cook the udon noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a bowl add the soy sauce, minced garlic, green onions and then add the udon noodles. Pour the hot oil over the noodles and stir everything. Add your cilantro and mix again.

Plate the udon noodles and top them with the fried egg. Sprinkle with chili oil if desired.

Enjoy your flavourful udon noodles! If you have any variations or additional ingredients in mind, let me know!
